Space Tech Expo Europe 2026

Earth observation payloads, satellite constellations and ground stations now move data at rates that leave no room for buffering or loss. At Space Tech Expo Europe 2026, TECHWAY shows how two off-the-shelf FPGA boards acquire and process 100 Gbps of optical data in real time. Come and see it running at booth S56.
Spatial data rates now exceed the capacity of traditional acquisition systems
High-resolution and hyperspectral imagers, SAR instruments and optical inter-satellite links produce continuous data streams that must be captured at line rate. That is true on the ground, and it is just as true on the test bench. Whether you are validating a payload on an EGSE bench, building a ground-segment front-end or prototyping a high-speed data-handling architecture, the bottleneck is often the same: getting tens of gigabits per second into an FPGA, pre-processing them, and moving them to the host without dropping a single frame. Since 2003, TECHWAY has designed FPGA solutions dedicated to real-time, high-speed signal and video acquisition. At Space Tech Expo Europe, Europe’s largest B2B space event, we bring that expertise to the space supply chain.
Live demo at booth S56: 100 Gbps of optical comm. data in real time
Two flagship TECHWAY products work together on our booth:
- the Kintex UltraScale+ PCIe board, our high-end FPGA carrier
- the optical FMC, a high-speed FPGA Mezzanine Card built on Samtec FireFly™ optical modules
Combined, they deliver 100 Gbps of aggregated optical throughput over four full-duplex links at 25 Gbps. The FPGA pre-processes the data and streams it to the host over PCIe Gen3 x16. It is a typical high-speed acquisition front-end, the kind used to capture payload data on a test bench or at a ground station. Our engineers run the demo live and can discuss how to adapt it to your link budget, protocol and integration constraints.
Inside the demo: two COTS products
Kintex UltraScale+ PCIe board
AMD Kintex UltraScale+ FPGA carrier for 100 GbE, high-speed ADC/DAC and optical links: PCIe Gen3 x16, VITA 57.4 FMC+ site with up to 20 links at 25 Gbps, DDR4 and an optional Zynq UltraScale+ SoM.
Optical FMC (Samtec FireFly™)
VITA 57.1/57.4 optical mezzanine with up to 12 full-duplex links at 25 Gbps, protocol agnostic, available in extended temperature (−40 to +85 °C) and conduction-cooled versions.
FPGA-based data acquisition in space programs
- Payload EGSE and test benches: capture and record instrument output at full rate during integration and test campaigns.
- Ground-segment front-ends: acquire and pre-process high-rate downlink data in real time, before it reaches storage and processing servers.
- Optical link prototyping: validate optical links and protocols such as Aurora, 100 GbE or your own custom framing.
- High-speed proof of concept: test a data-handling architecture on COTS hardware before committing to a custom design.
Our boards are open for development: you implement your own firmware and keep your IP. Each product line is maintained for 15+ years so a validated design can move to production without obsolescence surprises.
